It all started in the year 2014, the day after Spice Trail in Vagamon. The ultimate dream was to make the Roadking a perfect motorcycle for modern era. It may look like a very big timeline but sourcing parts and most importantly, Vitamin M plays a major role in it. For it, I had to save money each month when I was working back in Dubai.
Let me start elaborating the work from front fork side, I was all tired about the stock front forks I just removed it and replaced it with pulsar 220 fork, Disk assembly, T stem, top plate and Avenger wheel hub knitted to 16 inch rims. Fixed it with CD dawn front mudguard and made side stays to give the Roadking's OE look. I also added a front fork cup from TB 500 for looks, combined with rubber fork boots by the way the front fork height was increased two inches.
The top plate with clip ons where removed and holes drilled, to accommodate custom RD 350 bar handle with slight shape changes. Headlight from new gen TB 500 was added for incredible lighting and custom grill indicators for TB 500 was picked and the headlight clamps shape were helped by Arjun Shankar by providing pictures whole heartedly. Let me elaborate the handle section, It has a aftermarket quick throttle assembly, Engine kill switch from RE Std 350, HL switch from Std RE 350 and a aftermarket fog lamp switch.
The tank is handcrafted and done with at most care. The tank cap has been replace with Yamaha Fzs one, Side rubber pads are cut removed and made by cutting tinker paste to make it look the same shape to prevent corrosion, the color selection and rendering took months and was a hard task; white marble tone along with teak wood shade, because I wanted to experiment with something which no custom builder would have tried. One might think I'm crazy! But is it such a bad thing?
Then it is the crash guard section. It was replaced by an aftermarket-capsule shaped crash guard with a 1200 LMW fog lamp attached to it, Also with “drum rolls please” a USB charger!!! The rear brake was changed to Rod type from cable. The engine remains the same except for minor tweaks like high tension clutch spring, flower head and grooves in head. The seat and side door remains stock but the side monograms are custom painted to give teak wood-grains finish. The exhaust remains stock with silencer flutes removed. The Roadking has an old gen carrier fitted to plonk luggage during touring without any hassle. Last but not least the tail light is smoked up and the old gen bulbs are replaced with LEDs to give modern look. Overall it’s a 4 color combo motorcycle, White alias marble tone for tank, Teak wood effect for tank monogram, Tank cap and side door monogram,
Black for side door, Back mudguard and headlight stay, Silver for Chassis! I know I am crazy! Disk brake master cylinder, Disc centre piece and caliper red. Naga was a great support to help with color I love to be unique and that makes me awesome! Each and every thing was bought by at most care and careful selection. The motorcycle was made totally by my dream and imagination. Wish me many more very long happy rides in it. Am sharing this in my blog to just show how awesome a biker life and Motorcycle building life is. I really would like to mention three people who were strong support in building this Roadking one is Mr. Sreejith Karunakaran and next is Shamsheer Ahamed the mech. Sreejith bro was very patient to answer the pestering calls and getting me parts also I have someone special who helped thats Twinkle ;)
Happy to remodel a yezdi. The craze all started seeing Pudhu kavithai movie I tried even racing in it readers can see my pictures racing.
My biggest wish is someday want to click a picture with #Rajinikanth sir and his Jawas. Hope this blog reaches till him ;)
